Supernatural Abilities:

  • Fort Knox: 4. Lidiya has access to about ten kilograms5 of gold, any portion of which she can call into or remove from existence at will. Lidiya must be able to see the space in which she wants the gold to materialize; it cannot displace solid matter in doing so. The gold is summoned in the form of coins with strange markings on them, with no velocity relative to her. If the gold moves more than four meters from her, it disappears and can be summoned later. There are no restrictions on removing the gold from existence.
    • Lidiya customarily wears some of it as jewelry.
  • Ultimate Goldsmithing: 3. Lidiya can shape and move any gold (including her Fort Knox gold) with a thought, so long as she can see it or touch it. She must also be able to accurately visualize the form she wishes it to take. Compounds or mixtures that contain gold are also susceptible, but only to the extent to which they are composed of gold. Maximum gold speed is (currently) 10mph.

Personal History:

Lidiya was born and raised in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, to working-class parents. Despite being four children in, her parents were still very much keen on her going to school and strongly encouraged her to study in her spare time. And she was good at it, so she did. She was also good at hanging around with other kids on the street and being tough about things and running errands for spending money, so she did those things too.

One day, Lidiya saw an incredibly pretty ring in a store. Normally she was not one for the finer things in life, but she felt like that ring was exactly what it needed, and that it belonged to her anyways. And so on. The point being that she couldn't afford it, so she stole it and put it around her finger on the spot. The immediate realization that the whole operation was an incredibly bad idea for such little payoff (the ring was incredibly ugly) did nothing to stop the ring from being absorbed into her skin and a number of gold coins materializing around her.

Lidiya learned the limits of her new-found gold-shaping abilities rather quickly; indeed, they seemed to come to her naturally. The obvious moneymaking potential of the abilities failed to materialize; in a few trial runs with small amounts, people tended to get suspicious once their gold payments disappeared into thin air upon Lidiya's departure, and where she was, this kind of thing tended to draw too much attention. So she kept it on the down-low for another year or so, mainly using it to adorn herself with a few baubles. She got on the bad side of a fight once and threw up a few gold shields to keep from getting pummeled; this event was recorded on a camera phone and eventually found its way to the G.W.U., which then offered her a placement at Sunnybrook.


Lidiya remains wary of her powers, seeing as how the ring basically compelled her to put it on and then gave her free superpowers apparently in exchange for nothing — it's kind of a suspicious setup. It's totally not a hook for unspecified interesting things to happen in the future.
